Simple Strategies for Potty Training Your Puppy

Ahead of the decision to add a new pet to the family, put in a thought on the amount of time required to take care of the new animal. Potty training your puppy consumes plenty of time. But, potty training your puppy is not only essential, but also necessary in maintaining your home. Potty training your puppy is necessary to keep it healthy too. The exercise needs not be filled with stress, but only devote time and exercise patience.

Established Methods

Several methods can be employed in potty training your puppy. Using a crate to house your puppy has been found to be successful with many dog owners. The crate acts as a sleeping place for the puppy during day and keeps it out of mischief when your attention drifts.

The natural instinct of the puppy to treat the crate as its home or den, will encourage it to hold its bladder. Animals by instinct do not litter the place where they sleep in. The crate method will also help your puppy establish time frames to go outside the house to relieve itself and avoid making a mess of its cage or home. Before putting, the canine into the cage, and taking it out, you should remember to take it out for relieving. This method of potty training your puppy will build in a schedule for the puppy.

Another method commonly employed is the paper method. In this, papers are placed in a specific area of the house where the puppy can relieve itself. Ordinary papers can be employed or special papers can be sourced from pet stores. Pads to go under the papers are also available with pet stores. These pads prevent possible damage to the floor if there be an unfortunate leak. If this method is employed, the paper space shrinks over time, and the paper itself is moved closer to an adjacent exit door leading outside the house. The process may involve some time and potty training your puppy to move outside the house to relieve itself may test your patience. But, many owners have tasted success without much pain.

Reward Accomplishments

Canines appreciate and recognize rewards and praise. They have a natural instinct to strive towards pleasing their new family. The warm feeling of security that you impart will contribute largely towards best results from your puppy. Rewards can manifest in any form. It can be simple syllables of encouragement or even an occasional puppy snack.
