Training Your Puppy Can Be Easy and FunYour new puppy has just arrived and you would like to start its training. But, you do not know where to begin. At the outset, you should decide what you want to train your puppy for. House training normally, is on the top of the list since no one want to live with a smell surrounding. So, if you decide to train your puppy, you should start with house training, as soon as you bring it in. Among the first thing, you should draw out a schedule for your puppy which will include taking it out regularly for it to relieve itself, and praising it for the good deeds and punishing it for the bad ones. With lots of love and affection and a little patience, your new puppy will soon acquire skills on what is expected of it and what are forbidden. In a short span, it will become an affable addition to your family.
Crate Training
Normally, crate training is where you can start with. This means, you acquire a crate which is big enough for the puppy to move around inside. As a thumb rule, puppies won’t want to create a mess around the place they sleep in. Therefore, keeping it in a crate during night can save you the embarrassment of having to clean up the mess when you wake up. Initially, your puppy will cry and make complaining sounds, but if you yield, you will be setting a bad pattern.
The Routine
During training, you must set in a routine for your puppy. Take time to let it out at regular intervals , like the first thing in the morning as soon as you wake up, then some time after each feeding, before you go to bed etc. If you stick to this routine consistently, your puppy will learn what you expect out of it. Soon, you will be saved of eventual accidents.
Praise and Punishment
Praise and Punishment is an integral part of puppy training. When your puppy does a good job, be lavish in praising it. Show lots of love and affection. Pat it and say “a good job”. Similarly, when it does something bad, make a loud noise and say “no”. You are much stronger than your puppy. Never hit it. You may run the risk of permanently harming your pet. Success of puppy training revolves around praise and punishments to teach your puppy understand the right from the wrong.
You cannot train your puppy in a day or two. It involves time and dedication before your puppy learns what you expect out of it. Make puppy training a fun filled activity, and remember that your pet deserves lots of love and patience. Eventually, the canine will catch on.
