Your Giant Schnauzer Puppy - Behaviour Training

Giant schnauzer puppies need to be taught on how to act, so that it becomes a good dog when grown up and is a welcome addition to your family. Behaviour training is best when it is still a puppy and ideally starts as soon as you have brought it home. Dogs generally are sensitive and the best way to get optimal result is the carrot and stick policy. Praise your puppy/dog for good deeds and punish it for the bad ones. But, you need some consistency in this approach as repetition is the best tool that puppies enjoy. Behaviour training your giant Schnauzer puppy – remember, need be a fun-filled one. After all, it remains a puppy only once.

Love and Affection:

All household pets crave for its master’s love and affection. Your giant Schnauzer puppy is no different. Be lavish to praise it when it does things, you approve as good, and do not hesitate to punish for bad deeds. This way your giant Schnauzer will gradually understand its ways. Hugging your dog every time it delivers a good deed can produce wonderful results and your giant Schnauzer puppy will understand the ways to earn its due attention.

Behaviour training your giant Schnauzer puppy will also include punishment when it indulges in bad deeds. However, Punishment does not mean hitting it or abusing it. As a thumb rule, never hit a puppy simply because, you are larger than the animal and can cause great harm, unintentionally though. To achieve behaviour training for your Schnauzer puppy, you can teach it to differentiate between the right and wrong, like making a loud noise when your puppy does something that it is unacceptable. Acts like jumping a pole, getting on to the furniture, dirtying your new carpet, etc. can be curtailed by a firm and loud no, or slapping a magazine/newspaper etc. against your hand. Over a period, your puppy will understand that while good behaviour begets love and attention, bad behaviour brings the negative reaction of loud noise and signs of punitive action.

The exercise of behaviour training your giant Schnauzer puppy is expected to be fun, so do have fun with it. The training objective is to teach your new dog to be a good addition to your family. Over time, your giant Schnauzer will grow larger, but will remain a puppy mentally, so keep the training consistent. With enough love and affection, time and patience, you can rear your puppy into healthy good dog that can be a part of your family for a good length of time to come.
